• Need help: Modifying bot behavior
Hello everyone,
I am new here, and I hope this hasn't been covered before.
As a school project I am modifying bot behavior for a first-person shooter such as Medal of Honor, Call of Duty, Counter-Strike or any other game in that genre.
While I am somewhat comfortable with code, I have never modified bots or created maps or mods, so I would appreciate any replies, help or ideas for the project.
## Here is the project idea: ##
1) I want to create a playable level where all bots (friends and foe) follow the player and face him at all times.
2) The main idea is for the player to interact with zombie-like bots, who simply stare back and follow him around.
3) While they are persistent in approaching and following the player, the bots do not attack or fight back if shot at.
4) When approached, the bots will get out of the way, but will keep on following the player.
5) All their basic functions, such as planting bombs, manning machine guns, ducking and hiding, will be stripped away (or reduced as much as possible).
## Some points: ##
- Can be any existing map, small or large
- As I am only modifying the bots's behavior, existing models, skins, weapons and surroundings are perfect.
- Can be either single player or multiplayer
- The simpler the better, a level with only a two-story house and a back yard will work perfectly.
- If possible, I would like to have the bots speak something I record
As I said, I want to do this as simple as possible. I have no preference for a game: I am happy with using the game that suits my project the best.
Thank you for your help!
