hello there i m new ... was looking for some help in character recognition using kohonen SOM

I m doing a proj on Kohonen SOM for character recognition. I m done with the SOM . I considered a seven segment display as the i/p. The weight vectors are randomly chosen. I am using clustering. I used 10 clusters. The weight vectors represnt the digits. is that all or something has to be done for chrt recognition.

I think you are on right track. I would choose randomly the weight vectors, do training to calculate weights (I think this is what you mean by clustering). And later when classifying use these weights and remap results to digits.
