The spring AI Article Writing Contest has officially started. You have over a month to write your articles. To my knowledge, there are already four people interested in writing -- don't hesitate to let me know!

The deadline is on April 25th 2003, 23:59 GMT. There are going to be (at least) TWO prizes, but these are being negotiated. I'm hoping for the Sutton & Barto book -- one of my all time favourites. There is a Grand Prize, awarded for the most votes by other writers, the Jury's Prize awarded by staff and past writers. In the last contest, we also had a prize for the best peer reviews of articles.

I didn't announce the two joint winners officially yet, so here goes.

• Evolutionary Neural Networks: Design methodologies (by Rinku Dewri)
• Paradigmatic Considerations for an AI Interface for a Wearable Computer (by Carol Stein)

Rinku was randomly drawn to win the Grand Prize (AI Wisdom), and Carol won the Jury's prize. Fabricio Olivetti de Franca won the prize for best peer.

As for the current contest, keep in mind ANYONE can enter -- as long as they're willing to put in some time and effort. We're willing to consider any articles related to artificial intelligence, and we'll even guide you in the process so you can learn as you go along! So get involved now...
