• CNS News has an article about a piece of music composed by artificial intelligence -- Please Rise for 'The World Anthem. Pattern recognition and statistical analysis was used to "reflect the combined voice of all nations." Basically, each instrument plays a perfect pitch 'LA' for a few minutes ;)
• In the NY Times, there's a piece about increasingly popular 'biologically inspired' solutions to robotics; Hidden In Nature.
• The IEEE Spectrum discusses IBM's latest push to get computers to repair themselves using common sense and a mechanism inspired by a human immune system -- Helping Computers Help Themselves. A worthy goal!
• Another gaming article on BBC News, which discusses the Art Of War; Computer Games Start Thinking. Quite literally, the advice given by the old chinese expert Sun Tzu were hardcoded into a computer game AI, and it seems to work very well!
• Kuensel Online has an article dealing with the dark side of the web; Internet Pornography Not a Problem, say IT Experts. They believe that smart proxies are not the solution, as the addicts manage to find ways around them anyway!
• The Southern Illinoisan reports of a computer used to instruct pupils in schools; Experts Differ on Computer Training for Tots. A somewhat controversial issue.
• A slightly older story over on New Scientist, about Animals' Grown from an Artificial Embryo.
• Edinburgh News reports of using AL techniques to models and predict trends in nature -- Computer to Predict Forth Wildlife Fears.
